    Does the name come from the acronym (see Satish) or the Tamil? There was a British base here during the Second World War (not only in the 60s as the Wikipedia entry says) , giving rise to the acronym explanation . Somebody must know whether Avadi was called Avadi before that base was set up, mustn't they?
